Sukla Phanta National Park is situated in the Far-west of Nepal. The name of the park is derived from the largest of grasslands known as Sukla Phanta. The Reserve has the largest grassland in the Far Western Terai, but this is not the only brilliant: it is home to Nepal’s, maybe even Asia’s, largest population of swamp deer. The congregation of Swamp Deer in the park's grasslands is the largest in the world (Currently numbering around 2,000) the population of hispid hare may be of international significance. The extensive open grasslands and wetlands around the lakes of the park are habitat for a wide range of fauna. In the rivers, lakes and ponds 28 fish species and 12 reptile and amphibian species were recorded. Current checklists include 46 mammal species and a total of 423 bird species has been recorded. Wild elephants, Bengal Tiger, Indian Leopard, Sloth Bear, Swamp Deer, hispid hare have also been sighted in the park. Other wildlife of the park included is spotted deer seen in large numbers, hog deer, nilgai, wild dog, jackal, porcupine etc. The park and the adjoining forest is the territory of a small number of tigers. A stop at the Rani Tal would be an exciting experience. This small lake attracts birds and animals alike. Realities Type of Journey: Wildlife Safari and Homestay Duration of Journey: 6 Days Trip Duration: 4 Days Route of Trekking: Kathmandu-Dhangadi-Suklaphata-Dhangadi- Kathmandu Best Time: January to June & late September to December Trip Note: The groups safety is very important for us. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Even though every effort is made to go as planned, a little change might occur in the itinerary because of weather conditions, health condition of a person, unexpected natural disasters, etc. The leader will try to ensure the trip runs as planned, but please be prepared to be flexible just in case. This trek is available on a private itinerary basis to suit your own dates and that are guaranteed to operate with a minimum of 2 or 3 people in the group.
Journey at a glance
Day Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu — Upon arriving in Kathmandu (Tribhuvan International Airport), our representative will meet you and help you transfer to your hotel by car/Jeep. Enjoy a free evening to explore Kathmandu and recover from your jet-lag. Meet our representative will brief you about trip to Bardia and answer your questions and queries if any before dinner. Day Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Dhangadi to Suklaphata — After Breakfast at Hotel, we transfer to the domestic airport for one hour lovely flight to Dhangadi, upon arriving in Dhangadi Airport, our representative will meet you and help you transfer to your hotel/Resorts of Suklaphata after a short drive by car/Jeep/bus. After Check in Hotel Enjoying Lunch at Resort. Then Evening you will have village tour which gives you a great opportunity to know local Tharu’s traditions and cultures. also, we can Enjoy Sunset view from reserve. Day Day 03: Full activities in Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. — You enjoy bird watching and further proceed to elephant Safari. An excellent opportunity to see Asian Elephant, Great One Horn Rhinoceros, Spotted Deer or Chital, Hog Deer, Barking Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer or Barasingha, Nilgai or Bull, Black Buck, Wild Boar, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena. Next you start jungle walk. An excellent opportunity to see the wild animals, small mammals, birds and waits in the Tower to have the wild sightseeing, accompanied by our experienced naturalists and wild life tracker. Excellent photographic opportunities are plentiful. Day Day 04: Tiger Tracing/Bird Watching/ Jeep safari/Tharu cultural Show — After having early breakfast, we head down to river side to see birds. You will see different species of birds and enjoy their enchanting sounds. After that we go for tiger tracking with our friendly professional guides. We come back for lunch and then after some rest we go to jungle safari on a Jeep with expert. They will give much information about animals, birds and vegetation and their importance in our ecosystem. Later in the evening, Tharu cultural program is organized. Enjoy cultural presentation, music, Tharu Stick dance and Tharu food festival. Enjoy dinner. Day Day 05: Bird watching and Jeep driving — This day’s activities include bird watching and Jeep driving into the jungle. After good lunch, you will now pack your things and fly back to Kathmandu with the memorable experiences, warm love and moments of Suklaphanta. Check in to the Hotel and Enjoy Farewell Dinner. Day Day 06: Final Departure from Kathmandu — Our representative will attend you to the airport to catch your returning flight. We hope to see you again soon!! For Local Visitor, we will make this Itinerary from Tikapur, Lamki, Dhangadi, Attariya, Mahendranagar, Butawal and Chitawan
